Dorothy Berwin has been a life-long theatregoer. She founded Berwin Lee London New York Playwrights with her fellow partners Mark Lee and Tom Kirdahy to foster the art of playwriting. She is an award-winning independent film producer and active champion of theatre and the visual arts. After founding InFilm Productions in 1995, Berwin produced a succession of critically acclaimed independent films including the award winning 2015 film Carol  by Todd Haynes, starring Cate Blanchet and Rooney Mara. 

Berwin join the Lincoln Center Theater Board in 2011 and the North American Acquisitions committee of Tate in 2013. She is an ambassador at large for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual  & Transgender community center in New York, where amongst other work, she was a founding member of the Annual Fashioned Center Dinner which raised over $1.5 million to date. 

Berwin was actively involved in helping produce and fundraise for the Oscar Wilde Secular Temple by artists McDermott & McGough, an art installation which not only commemorates LGBT martyrs but also raises funds for the LGBT homeless youth, in partnership with the LGBT Center in New York. She was actively involved in the installation of the Oscar Wilde Secular Temple at Studio Voltaire in London, raising money for the Albert Kenney Trust. Berwin also spearheaded a fundraising campaign for the Tate museum to acquire the artwork which successfully took place at the end of 2019.
